To increase the level of awareness on environmental issues and protection, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun on the 19th of April 20 13 embarked on a state-wide green awareness campaign. The Green Awareness Campaign was flagged off with a symbolic tree planting exercise. Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun led other dignitaries including the members of the State Executive Council; the then House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Environment, Hon. Uche Ekwunife, renowned environmentalist, Dr. Newton Jibunoh and others to plant a tree.
A five-kilometre awareness walk led by Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, Mrs. Olufunso was embarked upon. The awareness and advocacy walk took offfrom the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto and terminated at the Oba Adisa Odeleye Park, Sokori in Abeokuta. Eminent personalities such as the then House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Environment, Hon. Uche Ekwunife, renowned environmentalist, Dr. Newton ]ibunoh amongst others took part in the Green Awareness Walk.
