On the 19th of April, 2013 a five kilometre awareness walk led by Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, Mrs. Olufunso was embarked upon. The awareness and advocacy walk took off from the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto and terminated at the Oba Adisa Odeleye Park, Sokori in Abeokuta. Eminent personalities such as the then House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Environment, Hon, Uche Ekwunife, renowned environmentalist, Dr. Newton Jibunoh amongst others took part in the Green Awareness Walk.
