Launch

of Green Education For The Youth (GEFTY) initiative

Mrs. Olufunso Amosun wrote, illustrated, published and gave out 5,000 free books on the 2013 Children’s Day in Abeokuta to educate primary and secondary students in Ogun State on the basics of going green; and distributed 10,000 tree seedlings to students to plant under the supervision of their agriculture teachers on the 27th of May, 2013.

Green Awareness Campaign - Tree Planting Excercise

To increase the level of awareness on environmental issues and protection, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun on the 19th of April 20 13 embarked on a state-wide green awareness campaign.

Green Awareness Walk

On the 19th of April, 2013 a five kilometre awareness walk led by Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his wife, Mrs. Olufunso was embarked upon. The awareness and advocacy walk took off from the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Kuto and terminated at the Oba Adisa Odeleye Park, Sokori in Abeokuta.

International Conference

and Workshop on the Environment

Mrs. Olufunso Amosun anchored a two-day Uplifting the Environment International Conference and Workshop from the 23rd to 24th of April, 2013 in collaboration with the International Centre for Public Enterprises (ICPE).

Waste to Wealth Programme

In an effort to boost employment generation, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun in partnership with some Chinese investors on the 14th of August, 2013 embarked on a Waste to Wealth Programme, imploring youths to explore waste recycling business to sustain the environment and earn a living, rather than seeking white collar jobs.

1st International Green Essay Competition

The programme was organised by UPLIFT Development Foundation in collaboration with Channels Television Book Club based on Mrs. Olufunso Amosun’s book titled: Green Education for the Youths (UPLIFTing the Environment), where the youths from across the country were invited to write an essay on environmental sustainability.

Guarden of 95 Trees in Asaba

To commemorate the 95th birthday celebration, Delta State Government under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in collaboration with Dr. Newton Jibunoh commissioned the Nelson Mandela Garden of 95 Trees and unveiled the Nelson Mandela Statue in Asaba, the state capital on the 3rd of October, 2013.

2014 World Environmental Day

Awareness Walk

To mark the 2014 World Environmental Day, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun led a ”Go Green Awareness Walk” in collaboration with the Ogun State Ministry of Environment on the 6th of June, 2014 to sensitise members of the public on the need for a sustainable green environment and healthy living.

On the 19th of March, 2016, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun added another feather to her cap as she was conferred with an honourary Doctorate Degree of Science Environment Management (Honoris Causa) for her immerse contributions towards environmental Sustainability, by Novena University, Ogume in Delta State.
